Remembering the Kick-off meeting in Cambodia 2015

The aim of the meeting was to bring the representatives of the project consortium together and officially/publically launch the project. The meeting also addressed the following topics: technical and conceptual aspects, first-hand information on the activities planned, allocation of tasks/responsibilities, methodology, tools and approaches. Time was given to study the projects of the hosting partners (KYSD) in the field. The participants of the kick-off meeting also worked on Presentation of organisations, approaches, staff, methods, experience, understanding complementarities and possible synergies, trust building, networking, hands-on workshops by partners.

We discussed and agreed on task sharing, planning future events/activities, setting up of working/task groups “To do” lists, responsibilities and commitment. The final day was the official Conference launching the project, presentation of the project with presence of local authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders.

Each partner organization delegated the representative matching the following profile: the capacity to present the main activities and experience of their organisation; commitment to stay active in the project for at least 12 months after the meeting; endorsement to make decisions (or to prompt decisions quickly) and commit their organisation; some experience, or at least interest, in one of the main priorities of the project (responsible and sustainable tourism, cooperation in the field of youth between EU and South East Asia, non-formal education, social inclusion, training of marginalised and low-income communities, active participation and citizenship).

The meeting was split in terms of location. The first and the last days activities took place in the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. For the middle part the meeting was moved to a remote site of rural tourism, the village of Chambok.
